What does the Anthropocene mean for science and in particular for the relationship between social and natural sciences? What new research approaches and methods do we need to meet this challenge? The lecture takes up this question and argues for innovative research that focuses on the Earth system transformed by humans and combines natural science and human science methods in its analysis.
