Open dialogue to promote a calmer atmosphere, greater particiinclusion and fewer distractions in shops and public facilities
How can public spaces be made accessible and pleasant for everyone? Whether it’s loud music, narrow aisles or flashing advertising hoardings: many people quickly feel uncomfortable in noisy and crowded places. The ‘Quiet Hour’ deliberately creates space for more peace and participation: in supermarkets, public facilities or at a town festival—music, announcements and other stimuli are reduced for a set period of time. Many people can benefit from this.
At our OpenFORUM as part of Mental Health Week, we’ll be providing information about the ‘Quiet Hour’ concept and engaging in discussion with interested members of the public, those affected and local businesses. Who does the ‘Quiet Hour’ help? What experiences have there been so far, and where is there a need for more peace and quiet and greater inclusion in Jena?
